Making a Difference

So what’s the difference between WAM Events and all the other event promoters on the scene? WAM Events, (the initials of Bill’s father who lost his fight with cancer in 1977) is dedicated to health and community. Our events are designed not only to give people of every age group an opportunity to be active, but also to give them an opportunity to give back to the community.

The Challenge...

WAM Events contributes a portion of its proceeds from every event to a local charitable organization. We focus our efforts on organizations that are working on health related initiatives such as the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and the American Diabetes Association. The founders of WAM Events are dedicated to the health and well being of our friends, our families and our community. Won’t you join us?

Nearly 21 million children and adults have diabetes in the U.S. and another 54 million are right on the verge of developing the disease. Childhood obesity is one of our nation’s leading health threats. Today, 11 million kids are overweight, and an additional 13 million are at risk for being overweight. As a result more and more kids are developing conditions and diseases that we would normally associate with adults—like high blood pressure, elevated cholesterol, and type-2 diabetes. (American Heart Association)

In addition, studies show that two of five adults ages 40 to 74, some 41 million Americans, are on the verge of becoming diabetic (American Diabetes Association guidelines revised in 2003).

With these staggering statistics in place, W.A.M. Events is being developed to entice people of all ages and demographics active. Events will include cycling events, running and walking events, health fairs, sports clinics, personal training services and much more in order to engage folks in an active lifestyle.

W.A.M. Events is named for the father of one of its founders, William Alexander McLoughlin who lead an active lifestyle but passed early as a result of cancer
